The Urban Escape Project was meant to be an escape from the city within the city; a fine dining restaurant, a natural retreat, within the confines of Washington D.C. A place where one could go in the evening to enjoy a natural intimate setting for a meal, then relax and recuperate from the stresses of city life and possibly stay the night.
The design of the interior of the structure emulates the experience of being in one’s own private natural dwelling with all the amenities of modern life. Natural vegetation was utilized on the interior to express changes throughout the four seasons. The design of the exterior structure is simple and un-intriguing because the design is meant to be experienced from the inside out. Upon entering the structure you forget about city life and enjoy your escape from the city within the city.
